Location

Attard is situated in the centre of the main island of Malta, just a few km away from the old capital city Mdina. Most of Attard is residential, with various public gardens, recreational areas and national sports facilities. Other important sites are the Greek theatre, Malta's main vegetable market and the crafts village in Ta' Qali, San Anton Gardens which includes the President's of Malta private residence and the historical Villa Apap Bologna. The village core is the oldest part of Attard which goes back to 3,000 years B.C. and comprises of a beautiful 17th Century Parish Church, regarded as an architectural and artistic relic, which has been left largely untouched, commonly attributed to a very talented native of Attard, the master-craftsman Tumas Dingli, it may also be indebted to the inspiration of an elder master, Vittorio Cassar, son of the famous architect Girolmo Cassar. One of the many famous religious relics in the church, is the china statue of Our Lady St. Mary. There are also three historical chapels, two in the village core dedicated to St. Anne and the other to St. Paul and the third to Our Lady of Victory which is on the main road leading to Mdina.
