Commercial and diplomatic ties strengthened between Malta and Serbia.
Malta and Serbia strengthened commercial and diplomatic ties on the 9th September 2009 by signing of a double taxation agreement at the end of talks between Foreign Affairs Minister, Tonio Borg, and the Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vuk Jeremic.
Dr Borg sees it as important for Malta and Serbia to work towards the enhancement of trade relations. He emphasised the possibility of establishing town twinning arrangements between Maltese and Serbian villages. There are some 2,000 to 3,000 Serbian nationals residing in Malta who have integrated well with the Maltese society.
